LOK Day at the Capitol | Legislative Reception | Spring Issues Summit

At LOK Day at the Capitol, LOK members and guests will listen to the legislative leadership speak on the upcoming legislative session, learn about the budget process and attend committee meetings of your choice. The evening reception will offer the membership an opportunity to meet with legislators in a casual setting. This will be a networking opportunity only. The morning discussion will focus on the economics of immigration. The luncheon will recognize the Helping Oklahoma honoree. Co-chairs are Jason Kirksey, Class XXVII, and Lyle Roggow, Class 30.

After having spent the better part of a year touring the state to learn about the important issues and challenges facing Oklahoma, LOK graduates ask themselves “now what?” This is a great opportunity to network with other LOK graduates and legislators to move the state in a positive direction. The evening reception will offer the membership an opportunity to meet with legislators in a casual setting. This will be a networking opportunity only.

The LOK Ambassadors will be coordinating with classmates to establish “no host” dinners at various locations after the legislative reception.

The morning discussion is focusing on the economics of immigration. How do we move the economic needle? By transforming the conversation, attendees will leave better equipped to understand the economic impact becoming allies on the issue. Discussion will include the challenges of immigration, the economic impact – locally and nationally, and workforce shortage and challenges it’s creating in the future.

Next On Schedule – Luncheon | LOK Helping Oklahoma Recognition Program @ 12:15 pm

Christina Mendoza, the Community Development and Policy Assistant with the Tulsa Mayor’s Office will speak about the Gateway for Growth Initiative. Tulsa is one of 25 cities who received this grant. After her speech, we will honor the Helping Oklahoma recipient. Oklahoma is blessed with a tremendous volunteer community, people whose generosity of time and talent has an immeasurable impact on the lives of Oklahoman’s in need. LOK will recognize the Helping Oklahoma honorees for their service to a nonprofit. They will receive a $2,500 prize to be donated to the charity on their behalf.
