"Going through Leadership Oklahoma is an eye-opening experience to the diversity of our state. From Guymon to Broken Bow, we heard similar themes by our host communities and its residents. Our people define the "Oklahoma Standard" by their grit of endurance and tenacity to overcome obstacles or challenges that faced them. Taking the time to listen, collaborate and compromise will lead Oklahoma toward its greatest days ever!" -- Lyle L. Roggow, Duncan, Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation, Class 30 and Lifetime Member.

Youth Leadership Oklahoma Class Listings

Forty-nine upcoming high school seniors from across the state graduated from Youth Leadership Oklahoma’s Class 17 Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.

A class is selected each year through a competitive process based on proven leadership, geographic, ethnic and cultural diversity. Selected students participate in a week-long trip across the state of Oklahoma where they learn about Oklahoma’s history, culture, issues and leaders where they begin to develop a greater understanding and appreciation for our state. YLOK was created in 2001 with the mission to develop in young leaders a hope, pride and a responsibility for Oklahoma’s future. Over 800 students have participated in this one of a kind program. Leadership Oklahoma’s CEO is Dr. Marion Paden and the Youth Director for Leadership Oklahoma is Lee Anne Stone.

The weeklong program began in Oklahoma City at the Gaylord Pickens Home of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and concluded at the Oklahoma History Center. Other locations visited throughout the week included Norman, Lawton, Tecumseh, Tulsa, Stillwater, and Enid.  At each location, YLOK Class 17 learned about Oklahoma’s resources, issues and treasures, met with state leaders and further developed their own leadership skills.
