WHAT OUR MEMBERS ARE SAYING

"Going through Leadership Oklahoma is an eye-opening experience to the diversity of our state. From Guymon to Broken Bow, we heard similar themes by our host communities and its residents. Our people define the "Oklahoma Standard" by their grit of endurance and tenacity to overcome obstacles or challenges that faced them. Taking the time to listen, collaborate and compromise will lead Oklahoma toward its greatest days ever!" -- Lyle L. Roggow, Duncan, Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation, Class 30 and Lifetime Member.

ABOUT US

Chair's Letter

Oklahoma is one of the greatest places to live in the entire world.

We have great people, great businesses and great natural resources.

But there is one thing we need more if we are truly going to climb to the next level…

Leadership.

And not just political leadership. We need leadership in our communities, in our churches, in our civic clubs, in our workplaces and in our homes. There is one organization that prepares our citizens to fill these leadership roles better than any other, Leadership Oklahoma (LOK).

The strength of this organization is not so much the quality of the program, even though the curriculum is world-class. The strength of LOK is in its members. No longer do we consider LOK a 9-month program in which you participate in a class and then are set free to go forth and prosper.

Today’s Leadership Oklahoma is focused on membership engagement and continuing to equip those listed who have a strong desire to see Oklahoma grow and prosper. We have a great group of adult leaders who have participated in a class experience over the last 30 years, but we also have a strong set of young people who have learned more about our state through the Youth Leadership Oklahoma (YLOK) program. What we do through Leadership Oklahoma and Youth Leadership Oklahoma is needed in Oklahoma today more than ever before in our history. We must continue to make this organization strong.

I am humbled to serve as the chair for Leadership Oklahoma this year and will do my best to build upon the legacy of chairs who have come before me, such as, Laurie Tilley this past year, and Russ Harrison and Bruce Benbrook before her.

We are also fortunate to have a great staff led by Marion Paden that keeps us growing and improving. Their efforts to recruit, educate and engage are making a difference in our state.

Finally, I would like to thank my wife Jennifer and all our spouses for understanding when we need to head off to yet another Leadership Oklahoma event. Your support means everything.

Sincerely,

Brent Kisling
